How to Prepare for Winter Holidays Way Ahead of Time

September 21, 2023 by Zack Leave a Comment

You can start prepping for the most wonderful time of the year right now! Early holiday planning allows you to spend your time doing what the holidays are intended for – celebrating and spending time with loved ones.

The holidays may seem to approach more quickly every year, but there are ways to stay ahead of the rush. Do this by creating financial goals, making a to-do list, checking your car and home insurance and updating travel documents and photo identification. These tasks may create more time for you to finally try to make your Grandma’s secret eggnog recipe!

If you are considering making a switch in your insurance plan, perhaps for coverage that is beneficial during holiday travel times, Freeway Insurance Reviews show the company is highly rated and they offer a variety of affordable plans. You can give them a call or email them to learn more about the plans that are available in your area.

If you are hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, NYE, or any other end-of-the-year festivity, we have you covered. Let’s look at a few ways you can get ready for upcoming holidays… today.

Set Financial Goals

Plan your budget for the holidays to think about the expenses for travel, gifts, and party planning. You can allocate funds in a banking account just for this purpose, or put a set amount of cash in a big jar each week. This is a fun way to track your savings progress.

Assume there will be unexpected costs during the holidays. For example, you may experience travel cancellations or delays. You may need to reserve a hotel or buy extra meals at the airport if this happens. Having extra cash on hand will come in handy.

Keep in mind that you may need last-minute presents or hostess gifts for invites to dinners or parties. Having a set budget will help make your RSVP decision easier because you will know if these expenses will work for you. Plus, you can enjoy all of your other events without worrying about it affecting your finances!

Make a To-Do List

Making a to-do list is helpful for holiday planning for several reasons. They reduce stress, help with prioritization, and set goals with clear action items. For example, if you are hosting Thanksgiving dinner, you will have further tasks like ordering the turkey, ensuring you have enough tableware, washing table linens and silverware, and preparing the menu and a grocery list for the items you will need.

When able to see everything written in front of you, you’ll feel empowered! You will have better time management, the awareness to record important details, and you will be more organized. Plus, the crossing of an item off the list feels so satisfying – doesn’t it?!

To do lists are a great tool during all times of the year, too. Get excited and head to your local office supply store or order a special notebook just for this purpose. While you are at it, go nuts and pick up colored pens to make it even more fun!

Travel Documents and Photo Identification

If you are traveling by airplane or train, your travel documents and Photo ID need to be up-to-date. Be sure to check the expiration dates for your driver’s license and passport. If the date is approaching, schedule an appointment with the DMV to renew your license. Head to your local post office to inquire about what steps are necessary if you need to update your passport or check online.

This task is especially important if you have children. You may need to provide their birth certificate or a doctor’s note if your destination requires them. Contact the vital records office of the state the child was born in to obtain an official copy of a birth certificate. Unofficial copies may not be considered a valid source of identification. If you need a doctor’s note, make an appointment and ask for medical records that include vaccinations.

It is never fun when you get to the airport and realize you forgot an important document or it has expired. Take the initiative to do this well in advance so getting through TSA or security is easy breezy!

Planning for End of the Year Celebrations

Getting ready for the holidays now is one of the best ways you can truly enjoy the season. Prepare your budget for specific goals, make lists, and update all ID and travel documents now and you will sure to be on anyone’ s “nice” list!

Different Apps for Tourists to Ease Their Journey

December 23, 2020 by Zack Leave a Comment

There are so many apps for Android and iOS users, but there is no wisdom in using all of them. Especially when you are traveling. This will not only waste your time and phone memory but will also become a waste of money if you are thinking about buying some premium features as well. If you are planning your vacation this year, then it’s a wise move to take different precautions while traveling. To make your traveling easier, cost-effective, and more targeted, you can use the following apps for free and are available as a paid version.

AirHelp

If you have ever experienced delayed or canceled flights or you were not allowed to board the flight because of overbooking, then this app is going to be very helpful for you. Apart from this, it becomes a complicated process to file for compensation. Not many passengers get compensated for an unavoidable delay or cancelation. AirHelp is very helpful if you want to get compensated in a few minutes while you are at the airport. The app also helps you get a referral bonus if you have somebody else on the flight with you.

HotelTonight

The app is very helpful if you want to avail any last-minute discounts and get a hotel room for yourself. The app itself is very easy to use and takes very little time to reserve a room for yourself. You can select from the available alternatives according to the city you are visiting and the attractions that you want to visit and experience. You can look for different options using the internet or have a look at different programs that can help you look at different things to do and adventures to experience using Spectrum TV Select. This package has thousands of channels and other options that can take your cable TV experience to a whole new level. HotelTonight also offers round the clock customer support to users and so much more to add more to your traveling experience.

TripIt

The app is very helpful for you to organize your travel itinerary using a very easy process. All you need to do is forward your hotel details, restaurant, flight details, rental confirmation, and other details to plans@tripit.com. This automatically transfers the said information to a master itinerary so that you can view all your upcoming travel plans at the same time. If you are using the pro version of the app, then Tripit will let you find alternative routes if your flight gets canceled and will send you a notification in case your flight gets delayed or any other thing happens to your flight.

LoungeBuddy

People spend a lot of time waiting at the airport and everybody knows that it sucks like anything. Also, some people might be having their flights delayed or will be using connecting flights and their lounge has some dirty seats, an overpriced Wi-Fi connection, and food that might not suit your taste. You have to go through all this if you are not a member or if you are not traveling on a business-class ticket. This app helps you avoid all this pain and all you need to do is enter your credit card, airline status, and lounge membership. The app is going to let you know about free lounges that are free of cost or the ones that you can buy for a day based on a day pass. The app is very easy to use and can be used for free,

Hostelworld

The app takes care of all your usual travel needs, especially your accommodation and works as a very easy to use accommodation booking app. You can search through different accommodation options, go through descriptions and use filters to narrow down your selection. To make your search more specific and easy, you can use an interactive map that you can use on your screen and look out for hostels near a spot that you would like to visit or a neighborhood of your preference.

Have Fun!

It is not wrong to sum things up by saying that traveling is one of the most followed activities for people today. People travel with their family and friends to find a retreat for themselves. The apps discussed above can be very helpful for you and will help you go through any urgent changes in your travel plan. Also, it makes things more manageable for you and people who are traveling with you by helping you plan your trip beforehand.

In order to stay fit the average adult should aim to take 10,000 steps per day. In order to meet your 10,000 step goal you may want to go for short walks during your lunch break and to catch public transportation to work, instead of driving to work. The Best Technologies for Travel

October 6, 2020 by Zack Leave a Comment

One industry which is positively effected by advancements in technology is the travel industry. To discover some of the best technologies for travel, which you may want to take advantage of, continue reading to learn about a few technologies which you’ll find useful on your future adventures.

Apple Pay or Google Pay

If you use an iPhone, it’s well worth enabling and using Apple Pay on your phone so that you’ll be able to pay for items on your trips using a digital wallet on your phone. As you may find that it’s safer and more convenient not to pull out your credit cards in order to pay for items. Especially in areas where pick pocketing is common. If you use an Android smart phone, don’t worry as you also have the option for paying for items on your travels using Google Pay’s digital wallet.

Portable solar smart phone charger

If you rely on your phone on your travels and frequently use your smart phone to take photos, to use Google Maps to get around and to keep copies of your boarding passes and hotel reservations, it’s important to ensure that your smart phone stays adequately charged.

One great way to ensure that your smart phone never runs out of battery is to invest in a portable solar smart phone charger. As an example, you may want to purchase a solar smart phone case, which will charge your phone while you’re out about. Alternatively you can also purchase solar external batteries for your phone which you can hang from your day pack using a handy clip system. This particular idea is well worth trying out if you enjoy active pursuits such as camping, hiking and surfing on your trips.

A multi-currency debit card

Instead of using a traditional credit card or cash on your travels, it’s far easier to order a multi-currency debit card which can hold numerous currencies. A multi-currency debit card is a wise choice if you don’t want to worry about paying high currency conversion rates. As a bonus if you visit destinations where cash is still king you’ll be able to take cash out from your multi-currency debit card at any ATM.

Another benefit of opting to use a multi-currency debit card is that you won’t have to worry about overspending on your upcoming trips as debit cards are topped up with your own money. So you won’t be able to overspend like you would be able to if you carried around a credit card instead of a debit card.

Google Translate

You may be surprised at how accurate Google Translate is these days. While it’s advisable to learn a few basic phrases in the local languages of the destinations which you plan on visiting, if there are sentences which you don’t know how to translate yourself, it’s well worth turning to Google Translate. Especially if you find yourself in a country where English is not commonly spoken.

So if you travel on a regular basis either for business or leisure, it’s definitely well worth using a few of the technologies which are listed above. Especially if you’d love to ensure that your trips go as smoothly as possible.
